Gokyo Cho La Pass - Everest Circuit Trek

Listed Natural world heritage sites, Home to the famously friendly Sherpas friends of Mountains, the Khumbu region boasts some of the most extraordinary high mountain scenery on earth. After flying in to Lukla, our exciting trek to Everest Base camp takes us via the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar to the sacred lakes of the Gokyo Valley. Here, we ascend Gokyo Ri which is one of the finest vantage points for Mount Everest (8848m./29035ft.).

Crossing into the Khumbu Valley by way of the high and challenging Cho La (5420m./17780ft.), we then climb to the 'trekkers summit' of Kala Patar (5600m./18370ft.) which affords more stunning views of Everest and of the astonishing Khumbu Icefall. We have time to walk up to Everest Base camp, before trekking out by way of the famous and recently restored monastery at Thyangboche. This circuit of the Everest National Park provides a comprehensive taste of the Khumbu that is hard to beat within a 3-week adventure.

Gokyo Chola La Pass-EBC Trekking Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu /Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley
Guided sight seeing tour Pashupatinath, Boudhanath Stupa, Swaymbhunath and Patan Durbar Square. Rest of the time you can use for travelling around Thamel and shopping of needed equipment and other necessaries / Overnight at hotel.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2800m), start trek to Phakding (2610m) / Overnight at teahouse lodge

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3441 meters)
Trail starts to rise and rhododendron, magnolia and giant fir trees prevail, with breathtaking view of Namche Bazar (3441 mtrs) – the gateway to the Everest region. Namche Bazar is a colorful village with many wonderful and interesting shops and vendors, fabulous food, and stunning views of the surrounding mountains / Overnight at teahouse lodge

Day 05: Namche Bazaar acclimatization day.
During this day, an early hike above town, before the clouds move in, reward climbers with a spectacular Himalayan sunrise and views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse (the 4th highest peak in the world), and the beautiful Ama Dablam / Overnight at teahouse lodge

Day 06: Trek to Phorste Thanga (3680 meters)
We begin with a climb to the hill to Khumjung and then descend to the east of the village down the broad Valley leading to the Dudh Koshi. The Gokyo route turns north, climbing above the more frequented route to Tengboche and Everest base camp. The two trails soon join and continue towards a large chorten on the ridge top at 3973m / Overnight at teahouse lodge

Day 07: Trek to Machherma (4470 meters)
Trail climbs steeply through rhododendron forests, passing many Kharkas on its way to Tongba (3950m) and Gyele (3960m) and then reaches Dole. From Dole we will cross a small river and continue ascending to Lhaparma (4330m) and Luza (4340m) and finally reach Machermo. / Overnight at teahouse lodge

Day 08: Trek to Gokyo (4790 meters)
You will climb a steep rocky incline into the valley by the side of the glacier, passing the first and second of the holy lakes, crossing the path which heads across the glacier to Cho La - our route to Lobuche and Everest, later in the trek. The third lake is known as Dudh Pokhari and on its eastern shore is the settlement of Gokyo. Walking by the side of the lake, the scenery is breathtaking with the summits of Cho- Oyu and Gyachung Kang reflected in its emerald green waters / Overnight at teahouse lodge

Day 09: Trek to Gokyo Ri (5483 meters)
Gokyo RI (5480m) plentiful rewards to ones that attempt this trip. Stunning views of the Gokyo valley, the massive Ngozumpa Glacier and an incredible panoramic view of the whole Khumbu mountains range, such giants as Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu (8481m), Cho-Oyu (8153m) and Gychung Kang (7922m) are what we get from this place. Explore around and back to the Gokyo in the afternoon / Overnight at teahouse lodge

Day 10: Trek to Thangna (4500 meters)
From Gokyo the trail descends, glancing at the view of the fine mountains and natural beauty, towards Thangna which is consider as the base of Cho -La Pass (5330m) / Overnight at teahouse lodge

Day 11: Cross Cho La pass (5300 meters) trek to Dzongla (4710 meters)
You cross over at an altitude of 5300 meters we could be exposed to strong winds if crossing too late. We start to climb steeply that is regularly used and easy to follow. However, the problem may arise due to the altitude and snow / Overnight at teahouse lodge

Day 12: Trek to Lobuche (4910 meters)
The trail continues along the moraine from Dzongla affording you splendid views of Kala Pattar and Pumori before you reach Lobuche. This is an easy day had long and tough trekking day yesterday / Overnight at teahouse lodge

Day 13: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5365 meters)
After a gradual climb you will reach Gorak Shep which is also surrounded by mountains. You are now nestled high up amongst some of the tallest peaks in the world, the undulating trail to this much-coveted place to EBC. you can observe the blue ice and the Khumbu icefall. After visit the khumbu icefall back to Gorak Shep / Overnight at teahouse lodge

Day 14: Explore Kalapattar (5545 meters) then trek to Periche (4200 meters)
After reaching Base camp of Everest our aim today is to trek Kalapattar. you start early to reach the viewpoint that offers some of the best views of Mount Everest as well as other panoramas of the surrounding mountains. We then descend to Pheriche at elevation of 4200 meters/ Overnight at teahouse lodge

Day 15: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3441 meters)
Leaving the mountains behind us our descent takes us through Tengboche Monastery at elevation of 3860 meters before continuing back to the town of Namche Bazaar at 3441 meters. We arrive back into Namche Bazaar in the afternoon / Overnight at teahouse lodge

Day 16: Trek to Lukla (2804 meters)
Trek back to Lukla along the same trail, although it always looks different coming from the opposite direction on arrival in Lukla (2840m) you will have time to relax and celebrate the completion of your trek / Overnight at teahouse lodge

Day 17: Early in the morning, transfer to airport and fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu / Overnight at hotel

Day 18: Free day in Kathmandu for personal activities or join onward program or final departure.
